March roared in AND out like a lion. We did so many things this month! We usually don't have devices on school days. However, it's the Winter Olympics! As long as the TV is playing some sort of Olympic games, it can be home. We've watched a lot of Winter Olympics. Tyler hosted a Deacon Games battle night for activities to commemorate the Winter Games. Fun was had by all and Nolan shared the podium for Bronze. The only way 4 people can medal in the actual Olympics.
The kids' school had open house. They show you around the school, their classrooms and some of their grades/data. Tyler went this year and as usual, the kids are having a great year!
Nolan participated in UIL Mental Math. On competition day, he simply took a math test. They couldn't make ANY notes, or show ANY work. All of it had to be done mentally. He would stay after school once a week with his group and practice. In the next picture, he was at a birthday part. Evidently, there was a suction cup toy. At first I thought it was a bruise. He was a little shy about it, until the slightly embarrassing truth came out. I posted it on our mom text chat to discover he was not the only one. We laughed for more than a bit. It was pretty funny.
Grayson had band festival. We weren't able to attend this year, but he said they did well. Grayson has also attended two Stake Dances for the first time this year. Tyler made Bingo cards and made sure to fill the car with lots of fun teenagers. If they filled out the Bingo card, they got a drink and treat on the way home. We are grateful for some great youth we lucked out being friends with their GREAT parents. It sure helps the transition for the boy who would always choose to stay home.
Tyler was in charge of hair one Sunday. The attempts were admirable, but Lyla's face tells the truth.
Lyla was the only one willing to fish one morning. She had a great time out with her daddy. She is my explorer girl! Always ready for an adventure.
My mom visited over Spring break. We visited both the libraries and wend down to Burleson to see the new Temple. There is a visitor center there. They do a short presentation about the process. We are excited for the dedication date to be announced any time soon!
For the end of Feb and all of March we were neck deep in tennis tournament. There is at least one a week and they are at least 4 hours long. Grayson has been getting lots of match experience and it's been great to watch him progress as a player! His team went undefeated in the fall and spring seasons! Tennis is SUPER hard on shoes though! We did not expect to replace absolutely destroyed shoes so quickly!
We ended the tennis season and started baseball/softball on the same weekend. Not to mention the Stake Easter event we had a large part in.
Grayson qualified for the District individual tennis tournament. He was dropped of at 8am while Nolan and Lyla got ready for their early games. He played three games and then got to come home! He lost one, won another to advance then lost the next. Both losses were played against some very highly rated 8th graders! He held his own and didn't get shut out of any of the games, so he definitely has something to be proud of! Played some very tough matches!
Nolan and Lyla are finally ready to get their games going! Lyla is playing 1st and lead-off hitter. Nolan is playing second, pitching in a pinch and hitting in all different spots as they work out their line up!
Nolan gets to play with his friend Noah, which we are SO excited about and he has lots of friends that show up to support him! His teacher Mrs. Duran even came to a game where she got to see 4 of her students! She's been a wonderful 5th grade teacher!
The same week tennis ended and baseball games began, it was the weekend of Palm Sunday and our Stake Easter Event. I'm still not sure how we survived the weekend.
The Primary leadership was "gifted" the opportunity to decorate a room for our Stake Easter event. I murmured. A LOT. I also had a lot of help. Tyler made these really cool crosses from my vision. Thankfully the Stake gave us a budget and many of my church friends are more crafty than me. They really added the most wonderful finishing touches.
This is how we left the room....
