August

Lillie and Colton are staying in Grand Prairie while he does a medical rotation and JPS For the month of August. We got to meet cousin Briggs for the very first time!

For Grayson's birthday choice, we went to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Nolan went here for his 2nd grade field trip, but neglected to tell us how cool it it! There were many things to touch and explore. Grayson loved the dinosaur stuff the most!

The giant Light Brite as a hit.

I really enjoyed the mini-city. You could explore buttons and figure out how to give the city power. There were SOO many details on the mini things, that I could not stop looking at them!

On the screens near the Stego, you could choose how to decorate the dinosaur and it would add your design directly onto his skin! We also got to dig for bones. We didn't stay out very long, because it was a very hot day!

In the next exhibit you could pick and color a dinosaur. When you scanned it into the computer, your dinosaurs came to like and would walk across the screen. It was fun and amazing to see that kind of technology at work.

Another outside booth had a giant bubble maker. It was really hard to do and the kids got frustrated when it didn't work and we have to give others a turn.

The top level was dedicated to more Texas history and artifacts. It was cool to see the life size longhorns. They also had picture frames of different cows. It took Lyla and I a minute to figure out that they were digital, because all of a sudden they started talking and moving as we walked by!

We ended our museum day by attending the planetarium show of "The Texas Sky"

No words are needed for the following pictures. I just can't with this girl sometimes.

We attended back to school night and are looking forward to another year of school in Texas!

Tommy and Emerie stopped in Texas during their roadtrip/move to Florida. We got to have a quick dinner and visit with them. It will be a while before we get to see them again. They are about to be VERY busy with school and work in Florida.

Lyla made a night before school, "her". She is READY to go! I'm looking forward to watching her REALLY learn to read this year!

And just like that, summer was over. Early bed and early mornings are the new normal.
Nolan in 3rd, Grayson in 5th (his LAST year of elementary school) and Lyla in 1st.

They are all excited and ready to go!
I was able to drop them off at their seats and head home for a quiet day, to get everything done that we got behind on over summer break. I wish I could tell you I'm caught up.

We were gifted a VERY cool telescope by Aunt Tera and we finally pulled it out to give it a go. It took some time, but we finally found the moon and focused on it. When I say "we", I mean "Tyler". It was amazing how much detail you could see on the moon. All the fine lines and craters were really sharp. We might buy an extra lens with a bit more power and see how it goes.

Lyla's already killing it as our first Maverick of the Week this year. She is SPOT on! She knows how to listen, how to follow directions and she's SMART as a whip. It makes my momma heart happy to see her and the boy working hard to be good students and citizens in their school! Grayson is also have a great start this year! Last year was not the easiest for him, towards the end of the year, but he is standing out and working hard as ever in his last year of elementary school!

Until next time...
