We started October with Conference. On Conference Saturday our community does a Train and Grain Festival. It's so fun becuase the kids get so much free SWAG. It was quick and warm. We could finish seeing all the fun things between the morning and afternoon sessions of conference. We like the police booths. They let you touch all the dummy stuff and learn about the K9 unit.
Tyler treated himself to a power washer. It was satisfying to get all the dog pee off of the deck! Tyler and I went on a date to HEB and found a new rug for the front door! Kenney and Teresa came to see Nolan and Lyla in their primary program. I was recently called as the Primary Accompanist and it was my first Primary Program behind the piano. You probably couldn't tell that I practice at least a few hours each week. My piano skills will never be perfect. I will always make mistakes, but the Spirit was there and I felt peaceful about honestly doing my best!
This year we had so many Halloween activities that we were exhausted by Nov. 1st.
Grayson did a pumpkin carving activity at youth activities. We also made our own at home! Tyler won his annul FB contest. People were impressed by the tongue.
Our first Halloween activity was the PTA event at school. I helped with all the candy gathering and the trunk r treat. I canNOT believe how much candy was donated. Nolan got to run around with friends and Grayson helped keep all the candy bowls full. I got to follow Lyla around a few times and they even let me use the loud horn to make announcements. It was also the warmed Halloween I've ever had. It was 85 before the sun went down.
Our 2nd Halloween activity was the church Trunk-r-Treat. We love going to this. We get to see and chat with really wonderful people! Tyler tried to impress the boys at church by being a wiener.
Grayson had a band "preview". They showed us all the things they have been practicing so that we are VERY impressed at the Christmas concert. It was short and sweet! I can't wait to see what they sound like at Christmas.
We had a few dress up days for Red Ribbon week. Lyla found she had enough things to look great for Western day and Grayson was really needing a hair cut so he had enough hair for a crazy do.
Our school FINALLY allowed light dressing up on Halloween. We had Harry Potter, Bingo and a Referee.
Our last Halloween activity was on Halloween day in our neighborhood. We always go to our friends the Runyon's and it's like the only thing I like about Halloween. The big kids will take the little kids down a few safe streets and the adults just get to chat. It was a wonderful evening!
I still cannot believe how much candy the kids got just from a couple hours over 3 different activities. They will never finish it before Christmas, but its fun nonetheless.
Tyler made sure to use his costume at work, because Tyson deals with a lot of hot dogs.
Until next time..
