March 2023

In the beginning of March we had a thunderstorm. It was the biggest craziest thunderstorm I have ever experienced. The weather here in Texas is a different kind of crazy. We were in the middle of making dinner and thankfully is was 97% done when the power went out. We ate by candle light and attempted to make smores over the candles. It kind of worked and the power was back on before we were done eating them.

Baseball is in full swing! On Monday's all 3 kids have practice. We all go our separate ways. Then Wed, Thurs and Fri the rest of the practices are a little more spread out. Basically we don't eat dinner at home anymore. It's crazy, but lots of fun outside. Thankfully the times are staggered enough that everyone is usually on time. Also, I get that there are so many people here and they just can't manage it, but almost every park we go to doesn't have bathroom or water. First world problem I guess. Don't worry, it's still cold enough for me to wear my coat most evening!

The following photo commemorates a momentous occasion for Nolan. We fought tooth and nail but he successfully made HIS OWN CHICKEN NUGGETS. It was a close one but all parties survived.

Tyler likes to spend his days fishing. He really needs a hair cut and convinced the kids to pamper him.

We had some visitors over Spring Break. Most of Tyler's siblings came to visit Kendra before she graduates high school. We made them dinner one evening and played at the most fun park we have ever found. It called Epic Park in Grand Prairies. Fun was had by all ages. The adults also took a day and went to the Fort Worth Zoo together while my boys were at baseball camp.
Grayson is STILL waiting to be all than all his aunts and uncles.

Cora and Quigley are doing great. They get to go to baseball practice every now and again. They love their Lyla and would sleep with her if we let them.

Nolan's coach is VERY motivated and decided to put on a baseball camp. She was kind enough to let Grayson attend and practice with them. It was good for the boys, but Grayson got popped in the eye early on in the camp. It looked worse than it felt and it didn't bruise or look as horrible as we were expecting it too.

In February Nolan was invited to try out for a Storytelling team at our school. It's call UIL. There are all sorts of divisions, but you practice at your school and go to a competition. Nolan is very shy, but we encouraged him to at least try out. He ended up making the team, so we encouraged him to try his best! He had fun learning to retell a story with details and energy. He took a big step and was brave enough to compete. He did is best and knows he can do hard things! Even if he didn't win. He usually fights the hardest again trying new things. However, when we can get him to try he is successful and happy with acoompishing something new!

Lyla loves to play and get all wet in the rain. Also, peep the coats. It's still cold here and we shiver when fishing or attending practice.

My people loves the cinnamon rolls at Cici's (the rest is garbage if you ask me). Lyla is really good at dishing up a plate to share at the table.

One day after church Tyler had a meeting and we waited for him. The kids were begin CRAZY. I told them they could stand in the door and open them for anyone coming. It entertained them. For a minute or two.

The wild flowers here have started to bloom. First up was the buttercups. I know they are weeds, but they are everywhere and they are a very pretty and vibrant yellow!

My new favorite store here is Aldi. It is closest to the house and almost all of their products are cheaper than Walmart. I also love that it's small and easy to shop at. They sell a TON of really great gluten free things and extra fun things like this cute cross body bag. I love it there. They had a deal on baby peppers. Mitch and Emily's family eat them like they are candy. I thought for sure it would be an easy vegetable to add to our diets. WRONG. We did not like them at all! Blech, still have that bad taste in my mouth.

Our school hosted a muffins with mom event. We headed out early and braved the school traffic to have a quick breakfast together. It rained for our whole walk into the school and we were pretty wet by the time we go in.

The last weekend in March brought us opening day! Everyone had a game and we spent most of the day at the field. The t-ball here is..... interesting. I've never seen coaches so run hungry before. Ours is not a problem, but we lost 5-15 because we chose to have some class and sportsmanship. I get to help in the dugout for Lyla's games and let me tell you! That is no easy job! Helping these 5 years olds keep track of all their things, in batting order and ready to hit the field is not for the weak hearted! It's a blast but a VERY busy hour!

Tyler had a work trip in Kansas and we were home alone for the week. Thankfully nothing big went wrong, but I did have to get kids to practices and games ALL BY MYSELF! While I was busy doing that he had some really nice food.

Next up, we take family pictures!
Until next time...
