March 2023: Bluebonnet Season and Family Pictures

Just before General Conference, a day I have been waiting for finally arrived! For many years, Kenney and Teresa have told us of the Texas Bluebonnets. I love them. I decided very early on that if I ever had the chance we would take family pictures in them. I joined a few FB groups and asked friends where to find some. We settled on Ennis, Texas. They are known for their parks FILLED with the Bluebonnets. They even have a huge city festival that we couldn't attend this year. They even have a Buc-ee's! I watched the daily updates and we decided it was time. We grabbed Kendra and headed to Ennis to see the Bluebonnets. It was the first warm day we had had in a while. We went too early and fought the light all day. Just before we headed to dinner, we found the perfect spot. Kendra willingly pushed the button for any pictures that I wanted to be in. I'm so happy with how they all turned out!

We are so used to Kendra being apart of our lives. We have lived next to her and adventured with her since 2011! She is amazing and capable of whatever she decides to do, but we will miss her like crazy when she leaves for BYU-I in the fall.

The kids get better and better at taking photos every year. It's still a bribe and no one wants to do it, but we are getting there.

This was the first time I have ever seen the Bluebonnets in real life. They are truly amazing. The way that they grow naturally and in such large groupings is a wonder to behold! We visited 4 or 5 different parks and we loved just frolicking in the flowers. There were also a lot of Indian Paintbrush mixed in. It seems that the conditions have to be JUST right for this level of bloom ( and many places said the week we went WASN'T peak bloom). We had just the right amount of rain and heat in the fall to make them this beautiful in the spring.

Everyone who kept a good attitude got a drink and treat from Buc-ee's. Thankfully all recieved the reward.

Texas is not about to disappoint this spring when it comes to wildflowers. It's amazing and I love my people.
Until next time...
