The only thing we do with our lives anymore is baseball. So here's a breakdown of each kids' season so far.
Grayson is just exploading! He is listening and working hard to learn some new baseball skills. He has SO much power behind his swing. Kid pitch is hard to find the right pitch, but when he does it's a great hit! He really enjoys playing catcher. Again in kid pitch there is SO much for the catcher to do! It's so stressful to watch him play catcher. I'm learning really quick to relax and quietly watch the game. He's got great coaches and he's willing to work hard to always do his best! I love watching him play baseball. He also got our first spider bite. He was playing in the Texas bush during Nolan's game and didn't even realize it. Here's to hoping it heals quickly and doesn't spread past the sharpie.
I'm tell you, this year is Nolan's YEAR! He is on a great team with some great coaches. He was so shy that it took a while for the coaches to notice that this boy can play baseball! He is very observant, a quick learner and very athletic! He's been playing second base and batting second. His hitting is so consistent and he gets on base almost every at bat! At the end of every game his coach gives a game ball to the MVP of the game, so to speak. Nolan has gotten the game ball twice. He's amazing and we love watching him play! His team competed in the mid-season tournament. They played seed games on Saturday and were the #1 seed in the tournament. Unfortunately, they finished the tournament on Sunday. We made the hard choice to keep that Sabbath Day and not finish the tournament. His team went on to win the whole thing! We got to watch the championship game and root for the team. His coaches felt he still deserved a ring as his work at 2nd base helped them get #1 seed. He is starting to find friends on his team and he sure loves to win! Also, peep how huge the championship ring is!
Lyla Jean is such an athletic girl! She is learning a lot about tball and how important it is to get your hair out of the way on game days. I'm usually dugout mom, but we had a few away games that Tyler took her to. He got to be Dugout Dad. They love him, everyone loves him. He taught them some fun cheers and makes a riot.
She usually crashes after each game. Softball Tball is hard work! One game is rained a bit and you could tell this girl was just living her best life. So happy and full of joy. She knows how to get on base and scoop up the ball! I love watching her play baseball!
The egg shortage began to ease, just in time to eggs to be almost affordable again. Nana and Papaw came to watch everyone play and we decorated eggs with Kendra in-between the games. Kenney settled in very quickly when someone was needed to keep the stats book.
The kids begged for a scavenger hunt so a scavenger hunt they got. I even found a way to makes some of the clue Christ centered. The main gifts this year were crocs (don't get me started) and Perler beads. We have done SO MANY Perler projects since then. Each kid has a collection of super fun characters.
Remember how I said Texas was going to show out in the wildflower department? Well, they are officially everywhere! In full bloom along every piece of open space their are wildflowers. My new favorite are the Indian Blanket. They are red, orange and maroon.
We did not see any Bluebonnets in our area, but we found one and had to take a picture!
Tyler enjoys being able to fish during his lunch hour. He has been wishing that one of these days he would find a baby turtle. Well, he finally found not one, but two! He was able to catch them and bring them home. They are called Koopa and Bower as we have recently watched The Super Mario Movie. They are so tiny and Tyler loves to tell everyone about them!
After a night shift audit, Tyler took a day off. He was home and able to each lunch with each of the kids at school. It is something I've been able to do now and then and we all love it. They seemed to have a great time with their Dad who brought them a drink!
In May we take a road trip to Idaho.
Until next time...
